How to Factory reset Moto Z Droid?

Here are two methods for performing a factory reset on Android phones:

Soft and Hard Reset of Android phones

Method #1: Soft Factory Reset Moto Z Droid

Soft Factory Reset is one of the simplest methods.

Before doing anything on your Motorola Moto Z Droid, backup all information so if something goes wrong with the restore process, you can still access these data from your PC.

Follow the steps given here :

  1. Go to “Settings” on Motorola Moto Z Droid.
  2. Scroll down and tap on “Backup & Reset.”
  3. Select Factory data reset.
  4. Tap on Erase All Data, then click the Reset Phone button to confirm.
  5. Wait for a few minutes while the phone is being restored to factory default settings.

When you do a hard or soft reset, your phone will restart.

It will return to the version of the operating system it was on before.

So if your phone was on Android OS and then you did a reset, it will be back to Android OS again after restart.

You need to re-setup all of your apps and emails because they are now new again.

Pro Tip: After powering on, do NOT provide a Gmail account, as this will automatically download any app you are signed in to.

Here are some of the things that you should do when factory reset is unsuccessful:

  • Check your phone for any cracks, water, or dirt. If it has those, then you need to have a replacement first before repairing with hard or soft reset method as there might be corrosion, and this could cause more damage on system files;
  • Phone battery should be at least 60% charged. If it’s not, you need to charge your phone before factory resetting, or else there will be a risk that the system files might get corrupted, which could make solving problems harder.

I hope the above information will help you perform a factory reset when troubleshooting the most common problems, such as the Motorola Moto Z Droid boot loop issue.

This should be the last choice as the recovery of existing data is 0%. Remember that!!!

Method #2: Hard Factory Reset Motorola Moto Z Droid

Factory reset is when you take a smartphone and wipe it clean.

When this becomes necessary, the phone will have to be powered off first before following these instructions:

  1. Power down the phone and press the volume button while holding the power button.
  2.  Highlight the Recovery Mode by pressing the Volume Down key.
  3.  Push the Power key to restart into Recovery mode.
  4.  Suppose an Android robot with a red exclamation mark is shown, press and hold the power button. Now push the Volume Up button once to access Menu options.
  5.  Please scroll down to Wipe data/factory reset using the volume buttons, and press the Power button to select it.
  6.  Choose Yes using the Volume buttons, then press the Power button to select it.
  7. Now scroll to Reboot system now using the Volume buttons, then press the Power button to select it.
  8. The reboot may take several minutes to complete, and the device will go back to its original settings. Once it has finished rebooting, press and hold the power button until the screen turns dark, then release.

Pro Tip: For the Hard reset, ensure your phone is at least 30% charged.

Warning: Hard reset of your phone will erase all your data!!! We will not be able to help you retrieve that data later on.
